We are a Montessori Curriculum-based school in Omaha. We care for children from 6 weeks to 6 years and provide a range of age-appropriate resources and activities to encourage their development right up until they are ready to enter further education.
Who We Are
La Bella Vita Montessori School got its start in Omaha in 2014 by Sharon Hopson. We decided to do things a bit differently at La Bella Vita by creating a space which fosters early learning in a fun and safe environment where children from 6 weeks to 6 years can explore the world around them.
Founded on Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy, our school provides a rich, hands-on learning environment that respects each child’s natural development and sensitive periods.
With a focus on individualized exploration, multi-sensory materials, and the holistic development of each student, we ensure that learning is engaging, meaningful, and tailored to support both academic excellence and personal growth.
Our dedicated teachers guide students through a balanced curriculum that encourages independence, creativity, and a lifelong passion for discovery.
Our Philosophy
Our school philosophy is rooted in Dr. Maria Montessori’s educational method, which recognizes that children have an innate desire to learn and periods of heightened sensitivity for acquiring specific skills.
Montessori’s research showed that children are naturally curious and benefit most from being exposed to concepts during these sensitive periods, leading to deeper understanding rather than rote memorization. Our trained Montessori teachers identify these optimal times and guide each child’s learning accordingly.

About Our Omaha Location

Nature Explore Classroom: As one of just over 500 schools nationwide with a Certified Nature Explore Classroom, we offer a dynamic, nature-based learning environment with designated areas that minimize conflicts and enhance focus, enriching play and learning experiences.
Family-Centered Facilities: We support both parents and children with dedicated onsite parking, including spaces for disabled access. Our facilities also offer valuable resources, classes, and family celebration events to make the early education journey both enjoyable and enriching.
Qualified Staff: All of our Directresses are Montessori Certified or working towards certification. We are on the Pathway to Montessori Accreditation with AMS.
We are able to offer a wide variety of activities, including cooking, baking, gardening, yoga, PE, art classes, family gatherings and more!
Merging Teaching and Childcare
At La Bella Vita, we offer a variety of programs, including childcare and early education for infants and toddlers, preschool and kindergarten.
We also offer our very own Summer Camp, which provides endless opportunities for creativity, discovery, active play, social interaction, and fun! Designed for children who have completed Kindergarten through 6th Grade, our thoughtfully prepared classroom environment features materials and hands-on activities that engage all the senses, fostering creativity, movement, cooperation, and collaboration.
Each year, our Summer Camp revolves around new thematic units such as “Around The World,” “Road Tripping Across The United States,” “Space,” “Dinosaurs,” and more. Students also enjoy water days and field trips, keeping them entertained throughout the summer.
Outdoor activities are encouraged, allowing children to enjoy sunshine and fresh air. Montessori principles of independence, choice, and responsibility are integrated into the camp, inspiring children to be their best selves. Before-School and Aftercare options are also available.
We believe that it’s never too early to start learning and that it’s vital to always present opportunities for children to learn and grow as soon as they start at our center.
